Whilst I don't travel abroad often -- due to lack of funds, certainly not through lack of adventure -- but when I do, the whole experience of travelling itself gets me so excited that my over-obsessive-organised gemini twin immediately comes out to play...oh wait that's just me. It's been that way ever since I can remember. My family know that the only mornings I will ever get up early out of bed for is when it's either Christmas, my birthday, or for holidays. I would also like to blame my major dose of travel envy on my gemini twin too, towards all the bloggers out there that are killing it in the game right now, travelling the world with brands, making dreams a reality...but again that's all me. Anyway, I thought it was about time that I went on a little adventure of my own and ended up booking a last minute holiday to...Vegas! Writing this post right now is giving me all the feels thinking about getting up early on the day of my flight, travelling to the airport and ending the day in a far away location. But with an 11 hour flight to get through, I have learnt over the years that it's all about your in flight beauty regime. A long haul flight is a part of the journey too, as much as it's an inconvenience and a lot of time out of your day, it's time to embrace it, coming prepared and using the time wisely. Now I'm not one of these girls that likes to go completely bare faced on the day of travelling, I will mid-flight, but whilst travelling to the airport, mooching around duty free, and strolling into the hotel lobby on arrival, I prefer to look a little more put together. Plus, nobody should ever be allowed to see my under eye circles in the outside world, it ain't pleasant. For this reason my in flight beauty regime consists of a little skincare, a little make up and a lot of travel mini products. I would highly encourage you to have a stash of mini travel-sized products that you can either collect in magazines, beauty boxes or gift sets and store them away ready for your travels. It is seriously like a treasure chest hunt, trying to find the hidden gems -- this is just another aspect of travelling that I get super excited for.
Beginning my in-flight beauty regime the minute the seatbelt signs are switched off, I will be removing my make up with The Body Shop Vitamin E Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes. The Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic in mini form is the perfect toner for travelling as it comes in spritz form, meaning no need for any cotton pad hassle cos I ain't got no room in my travel beauty bag for any of those! The Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream is going to give my skin the hydration it needs whilst also improving its texture so I'm not left feeling entirely like a bare-faced mess. After that I will then be slathering my face in Sunday Riley's Luna and returning to my seat so that my skin stays hydrated throughout the flight.
First things first, lets get my hair tied back so it is out of my face, to do that I will be using the Invisibobble hair band which will never give you a kink in your hair ever again. The #1 rule on a plane is to always carry hand sanitiser and hand cream to keep the germs away whilst staying hydrated, so I will be using Soap and Glory's Sugar Crush Hand Cleansing Gel and the Elemis revitalise-me Hand and Body Lotion -- which I may or may not have nabbed from a hotel room I recently stayed at. To keep my lips from drying out and cracking, I have a sachet of the Dermalogica Renewal Lip Complex -- it's an intense lip balm containing Avocado Oil, Shea and Cocoa Seed butters so it is going to keep them fully plumped and hydrated all whilst smelling of strawberries, yum. When it comes to sleep we don't always see eye-to-eye, so to help send me to the land of dreams I will apply the This Works Sleep Plus Pillow Spray to the pressure points to help with relaxation.
Time for a refresh -- got to look semi-cute for landing so cue the make-up routine. Much to the annoyance of my fellow passengers I have nailed the timing so that I typically finish my make up routine just minutes before the seatbelt sign gets turned back on for landing, so if you ever see me on a plane, make sure you get in there first! I will start with a mini Benefit Porefessional primer I got in a Birchbox, then using the Zoeva 122 Petite Stipling brush apply a light layer of YSL's Le Tient Touche Eclat -- they have recently re-done the formula but this is the old formula. I got given it in the cutest little pot from the girls at my local counter a while back -- it is going to give a dewy finish, the perfect look for stepping off a plane and into a holiday destination. The trusted Collection Cosmetics Lasting Perfection Concealer in the shade 01 Fair is going brighten under my eyes and highlight down my nose, making me look wide awake -- Something I will need for when the jet lag kicks in. Using that same Zoeva brush I will mattify this down slightly and set my base in place with the Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder. I can't go anywhere without my brows so a brow pencil is so quick and handy for a plane toilet job, using the Maybelline Brown Satin in Medium Brown. Now for the finishing couple of touches -- the ModelCo. Power Lash Mascara, again another mini sized product from a Birchbox and the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Liner in Koko K -- such a smooth and buttery formula that glides onto the lips -- it feels great and also gives my face some much needed colour. Finally, after a few spritzers of the See by Chloe fragrance -- the red bottle -- from my Travelo, I am all good for landing. Time to enjoy some sun and shopping!
