Homemade Nakd Bars

Finding snacks to eat throughout the day that are healthy but inexpensive are hard to come by. Having spent a short period of time chomping on Cliff bars and Nakd bars, I soon realised that they were quickly eating their way through my money too. Having had a look at the nutritional information on the back of a Nakd bar, I think it was the Cashew Nut Cookie bar, I was stunned to learn that it was made up of just 50% dates and 50% cashews. How hard can that be to make, and they are charging me 99p for just one??! So I had one of those “I can do that too and probably for a fraction of the retail price” kinda thought.

So if you are also a fan of the Nakd bars, then let me tell you that you can make them yourself at home in just a couple of minutes, costing just 30p a bar, with only three ingredients. It’s that easy! These ones I have made are “Cranberry Crunch” but feel free to experiment and come up with your own blend – basically dates, nuts and dried fruits is all you will need, and you are good to go. All you need to do is blend the ingredients together until you get a dough-like consistency. To get the perfect bar-like shape, I used a mould that I bought from amazon. It’s a little on the pricey side, but it will give you the perfect shape to replicate a Nakd bar, without any fuss. Weigh out an approx. 35g serving so you can fill each mould roughly half full (this mould in particular is quite deep). Then freeze for 10-15 mins.


You will need: 225g dates pitted, 100g flaked almonds, 75g cranberries
