I’m always a little skeptical when it comes to any concoction that is preached about as being green and healthy – the majority of the time they taste disgusting. I have tastebuds and they need to be satisfied. Plain and simple. So usually when making a smoothie I will gravitate towards the more colourful, sweeter ones most likely containing berries and tropical fruits. With this sweeter taste comes more sugar, albeit natural sugars, those green veggies are much healthier than sugary fruits. So I set myself the challenge of trying to create a healthier smoothie that’s green but doesn’t taste like crap. Whilst it isn’t the most delicious thing I have ever had in my life, I think I have nailed the veggie to fruit ratio so that you can taste the pineapple amongst the greens, without it being overpowering either way.
You will need: 200ml water, 1/2 avocado, 300g pineapple chunks, 150g spinach, 7 ice cubes
